A study to minimise the risks and impacts
In order to establish effective water management practices, it is crucial to prevent erosion and mitigate the pollution of rivers and coastal areas. PT Weda Bay Nickel has undertaken a study to reduce the risks and consequences stemming from mining activities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Stormwater runoff
Prior to the commencement of operations at each mining site within the concession area, the PT Weda Bay Nickel team handles stormwater runoff by directing it into designated mining structures such as drains or ponds to prevent contamination of rivers. Furthermore, water quality is monitored through periodic sampling at basin outlets and rivers. The analysis results are promptly and automatically shared with the appropriate authorities in real time.
Likewise, water samples are collected from wells in nearby villages by independent, certified laboratories, with community representatives participating in the process.
